Carmen & Steve Dana
The impetus for the Dana’s ambitious project began with a new in-ground pool
and the desire to complete the home’s lower level for entertaining. Typically
a benefit in remodeling, the expanse of the room presented a unique design
challenge. To bring unity to the large space, seating areas were designed
at opposite ends to function as ‘bookends’ for the long room. Each was anchored
by full-length maple built-ins and matching aesthetics to integrate the overall
design.
In the heart of the space, KRT built a custom gourmet kitchen that opened to
the entire level, complete with granite counter tops and a
uniquely angled breakfast bar. Maple accents used in the kitchen
were incorporated throughout the space to complete the rich,
warm ambiance of the design. A unique stand-alone bar was with
granite counter tops and seating for nine was also built for
casual gatherings.
Perhaps the most impressive element of the project was the private office created
for when the professional couple wasn’t entertaining. Building
on existing elements, KRT designed faux-beamed ceilings to
accentuate the scale of the room and crafted beautiful cherry
cabinets around the fireplace. The result was complete transformation
of the narrow, cramped space into an impressive executive suite.
That’s entertainment.
